Above the Vault of Heaven

When infirmity or loss close in,

And say, “I will erase

Your beloved from the face of earth,”

They cannot touch the vault of heaven, nor bar Him above it

From receiving His child, His darling to Himself,

Where life o’erflows, for He is Life,

Where death, subdued, becomes a memory.

His might and love proceed together,

Rule and overrule, by day and through the night.

He comforts us with truth to know

That what is sown in weakness

He raises new, in power,

That joy held fast by faithful heart

Will meet His joy in walk well done.
